Shea Olein & Shea Oil
Shea Olein and Shea Oil are byproducts of Shea Butter. They are created by fractionation, where the liquid shea oil is removed from the solid shea butter. It is a very labour intensive process, which makes them harder to come by. Since they are liquid they are easier to apply and absorb quickly into the skin, leaving it feel smooth and soft without feeling greasy. They also provide your skin with all the same benefits as shea butter, however, due to the liquid form they can also be used as a massage oil, facial oil, body oil, hair oil, and hot oil treatment. They are also commonly used in lotions, creams, and face and eye serums.
Black African soap is rich in vitamin A, which promotes collagen production, and vitamin E, which heals and moisturizes the skin.
The cocoa pod powder used in black soap is full of antioxidants as well as anti-inflammatory properties that work to heal acne, reduce swelling, and give you clearer skin. The shea butter in black soap helps to soothe and soften your skin; keeping it younger looking, smooth and supple.
Black soap cleanses gently, so it’s ideal for people with rosacea, rashes, dryness and other skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. It has anitbacterial properties that may help treat acne breakouts. Some people use the soap as a shampoo or mild makeup remover.
